The golden rules

For successful installation without any unpleasant surprises, follow these simple rules illustrated below. They will guide you step by step to prepare your floor in the best possible conditions. Do not add an underlay to a product that already has a built-in underlay. Our vinyl floors cannot be installed in conservatories or hairdressing salons.

Inspect each board before installation; they must not be damaged. If you notice any visible defects on a board, do not install it!

Vinyl floor coverings must not be screwed or glued to the substrate and must be left free to move. The use of tapping blocks is not necessary.

The installation surface must be flat, clean, dry, sound and rigid. Flatness < 5 mm under a 2-metre straight edge or < 1 mm / 20 cm if flatness is not achieved beyond this, levelling will be required to eliminate any irregularities.

The ambient temperature must be between 18°C and 30°C, ideally 20°C during installation and use. Before installation, allow the flooring to acclimatise for 48 hours in the room where it will be laid.

Leave a 10 mm expansion gap around walls, thresholds and obstacles, as well as at door thresholds.

Leave a 10 mm expansion joint at the doorway.

DIRECT SUNLIGHT: Free installation is permitted provided that the ambient temperature is regulated. To prevent the floor temperature from reaching excessive levels of 60°C or more, block direct sunlight from reaching the floor using curtains, blinds or any other suitable protection.

Beforehand

Underfloor heating must be switched off at least 24 hours before installation.

If the covering is laid on ceramic tiles, joints wider than 4 mm or deeper than 1 mm must be filled with a durable filler.

Before installation, thoroughly clean the floor to remove any dust or residue. The floor must be perfectly clean.

Prepare the right tools :
1 pencil
1 tape measure
1 set square
1 metal ruler
expansion wedges
1 cutter
Do not forget to wear gloves, safety goggles and masks (PPE)

Add a expansion joint for rooms larger than 200m². For lengths exceeding 8m, it is recommended to increase the peripheral clearance to 10mm.

Compatible with underfloor heating, below 28°C.

Protect your vinyl flooring from ash splashes from stoves or fireplaces.

Do not place heavy fixed items (islands, stoves, built-in cupboards, kitchen units, etc.) on the floor; installation must be carried out around these objects.

Instructions

Insert the expansion wedges between the wall and the boards to leave a 10 mm perimeter joint.

Begin installation from one corner of the room. Work backwards, ensuring that the grooves always face towards you. For the first row, tilt the short side of the board to be installed into the short side of the board already installed and clip until the end of the first row.

To lay the second row, clip the long side of the board into the first row. Slide the board in at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees so that the short side is flush with the next board. Then lower the board to clip it into place, without using force or a hammer.

Fit the boards together until they lock into place. After laying each board, check that each joint is tight and that there are no gaps between the boards.

Underfloor heating must be switched off at least 24 hours before installation.

Offset the boards by at least 30 cm between rows. The joints on the short sides of one row must not be aligned with those of another row. After laying each board, check that each joint is tight and that there is no misalignment between the boards.

When passing through the doorway, recut the door frame to the new height if necessary.

Cut the planks neatly around pipes and other obstacles, always leaving a 10 mm expansion joint.

The width of the last row of boards must be greater than 5 cm

Once all the boards have been laid, remove the expansion wedges placed against the walls.

Install the skirting boards against the wall using our Access skirting board adhesive. Be careful never to fix the skirting board to the floor; you must allow the floor to move under the skirting board. This will cover the expansion gaps while allowing the floor to move freely.

Wait 24 hours after installation before turning the underfloor heating back on. Increase the temperature gradually, by a maximum of 5°C per day. Always keep the temperature below 28°C.

Maintenance

Pour éviter une usure prématurée, les pieds de meubles doivent être équipé de patin en feutres ou synthétiques.

Seats and furniture with castors must be fitted with soft castors of type W.

Clean the floor with a slightly damp, well-wrung mop.

Never use a steam cleaner.

Disassembly

Never lift the planks vertically to unclip them.

To remove a plank, slide it flat.
